Share referral and recruitment links
Use the right link for customers or new partners, and keep your referral code current.
Your referral link connects visits to your partnership with a product. Open Links, choose the program you want to promote, and copy its link. Each program has its own code, so check the product name before posting a link in an article, email, or profile.
Code
The referral code appears in the link as ?ref=code. It identifies your partnership when a visitor reaches the product's website. Keep the full copied URL, including the referral parameter. Linking to the plain product homepage does not carry your code.
You can change your code to a custom value with 3–50 characters using letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores. Choose something readable and check the saved result before sharing. If a value is unavailable or invalid, choose another and try again.
Changing the code stops the old link from being your active referral link. Update every place you control where you posted it, including scheduled messages and profile links. This matters most when you have evergreen content that people may find months later.
A referral link is not a guarantee that every visit earns commission. The customer must make a qualifying payment under the program's rules. The cookie window and attribution model determine which referral gets credit when several partners recommend the same product.
Recruit
Some programs enable second-tier commissions for recruiting other affiliates. Use the recruitment link for someone who wants to become a partner. It brings them into the program with you as their sponsor, subject to the program's joining and approval rules.
If your recruit later refers qualifying customer payments, the program can award you a separate sponsor commission. The business pays this in addition to the recruit's own commission. Recruiting someone alone does not create a customer-payment commission, and a program without second-tier rewards does not promise sponsor earnings.
Keep customer referral links and recruitment links distinct in your messages. A prospective customer should reach the product; a prospective partner needs the program's offer and joining process. Read the program's terms before explaining its recruitment rewards to someone else.
Check a link before publishing
Make sure your partnership is active and that you copied the latest link for the correct product. Open it to confirm the destination and referral parameter. Repeated test visits may be deduplicated, and your own purchase is not a valid way to earn a referral commission.
If activity seems missing, check the program and reporting period, then ask the business to review its tracking setup. For the steps between a visit and an earned commission, see the referral funnel.
