Invite and manage affiliates

Choose who can join, share the right links, and review each partner's status.

An affiliate becomes your partner for a particular product. That partnership holds their status and referral code. If you run several products, check the selected product before reviewing applications, sharing invitations, or looking at a partner's results. The same person can belong to more than one program.

Approval

Your product's approval mode controls what happens when an affiliate joins through the program flow. Automatic approval activates the partnership immediately. Manual approval leaves the application pending until you review it. Automatic is the default for a new product.

Use manual approval when you need to check how someone plans to promote your product. Review pending applications in Affiliates, then approve or reject them. The affiliate is notified of the decision. Approval of a partnership allows participation; approval of a commission or payout is a separate step.

The partnership statuses are pending, active, rejected, and removed. An active partner can use their referral link to promote your product. Removing a partner stops their ability to earn through new tracked referrals, while existing earnings still need review under your program's terms and payout rules.

Partnerships created through the Management API are active. If you automate recruitment, account for that behavior before creating partners through the API.

Your public join link lets people read the program offer and apply when public joining is enabled. It is a reusable route to the program, without an individual invitation's expiry. A private program can instead rely on invitations.

An invite link is a specific invitation with its own status and expiry. Invitations normally expire after 30 days. If someone cannot use an old invitation, check its status and send a current one. You can invite partners with a link or by email.

After joining, an affiliate uses their customer referral link to promote your website. Do not send prospective customers a program invitation by mistake: it asks them to become affiliates. Second-tier recruitment links are also intended for recruiting partners, rather than tracking customer purchases.

Support your partners

Keep your product description, commission terms, and marketing assets accurate. Explain whether renewals earn commission, how long the hold lasts, and when you review payouts. Use the partner's recorded activity to discuss results instead of treating every click as a sale.

If a partner asks about missing earnings, start with their partnership status and the relevant customer journey. A commission needs a qualifying payment linked to the referral. Use tracking help for attribution questions and payout help for money already earned.
